Why the Utah Race Guide? There are and have been many race calendars throughout the state. However, none of them have been entirely reliable. The Utah Race Guide is a definitive guide and is double verified with each race director before going to print so that the information is as accurate as possible.

Hey I just wanted to give you all this information about the Utah Race Guide booklet. I have one and it is great! It really is so much more reliable than just getting on the internet for the information. Many of those races have not been updated from that last year. There is literally a race every weekend. If you’re bored and you want something to do with your friends, check out when a race is and run it together. I posted a list of stores in this local area where you can pick up one of these guide books.

I know surprise, surprise that I’m supporting my city in their efforts to honor Larry H. Miller. I just saw an opportunity to run and get to know my fellow neighbors a little better. Not only are you honoring him you are fighting off heart disease. I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with the activities your city council puts on, but I can testify that when we do support your cities efforts in becoming a stronger community it works. Find out what kind of recreational events they are offering. I hope to see some of you at these upcoming races that I posted. If you guys do your research and find out the cause of the run, you’ll find out that you are supporting a good cause. Never believe that they do it out of profit, I run because I love it, and I want to help someone else by donating money. RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE! Many times that is where people lack the motivation to run. They do not have a good cause, but when you find one your desire to support it will grow; maybe even enough to bush you the limits of running 26.2 miles!

Summer is Coming!

"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
When I read this quote I really brought me back to why I really run. I want you all to know how much self-satisfaction really comes from running. I remember after my first marathon I thought I was going to kill over. The next day, when family members and friends were asking me questions about it I felt so good about myself. I was planning my next race that night. Summer is almost here and I don’t want anyone wasting away in front of their television. It’s time for us to get out there and enjoy nature. If you don’t feel like running right now, I promise if you go volunteer at one of the local marathons going on soon you will feel motivated. Don’t you want to know what it feels like to run 26.2 miles?? Well, it may not sound like an enjoyable time right now, but there is not sense in not trying it out. Saturday, April 17th is the Salt Lake Marathon and I feel like you should all go support those who have put aside so much time to train for such a large event. Not only will you benefit them you will benefit yourself. SLC Marathon always provides good entertainment and free samples. I know we all love free crap, so go enjoy the events and cheer on some runners!

Ogden Nature Center 5k

Ogden Nature Center is having a “Fun Run,” on Saturday, May 8, 2010. I don’t know how many of you have ever been to the Ogden Nature Center, but this place is great and they try really hard to keep the center clean and natural. The run is only 3.5 miles through the nature Center with pancakes served after. I have never ran this little race but through the experience I had of visiting the nature center I feel like it would be a delightful stroll through the trees. The 5k course is two laps winding through 152 acres on dirt trails. There is also a little race for the little ones, in which they can participate for free. Walkers will not be timed for medals, but are welcome and encouraged to participate. I truly feel like participating in these runs throughout the community is a great way to get to know other individuals, or maybe just a new way to discover new surroundings near your home. I personally feel like the Ogden nature center does not get the publicity that it deserves. All proceeds will directly benefit the Ogden Nature Center. Registration fees are $22 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. After May 1, late registration fees are $27 for adults and $16 for kids. Take the family and go for a little stroll through the nature center. Learn something new about your local surroundings.
